Spotlight - Auto-Briefer - Putting the desktop to work 24 hours a day
Ensuring that personnel are kept up to date with key information, targets, facts, policies and procedures is often difficult to achieve. Bluestar has adopted a novel approach to solving this problem with the Spotlight Auto-Briefer. Spotlight is an intelligent screen saver component that automates the process of disseminating information by using idle time on desktop machines. All desktop users are familiar with a traditional screen saver that typically executes a simple graphics display after a period of inactivity on the machine. Spotlight allows you to define any number of data sources containing information that you would wish to display. For example, Intranet pages containing policy information and today's briefing. Spotlight then allows users to enrich this data by providing fully integrated access to the main Corvus repository. Integration is optional but if adopted, also provides access to all types of information automatically captured by Corvus. In a police environment, Spotlight could show briefing information such as current targets, patrol alerts and expected dates of release. In any environment, Spotlight can be used to show company news items, Intranet/Internet pages, current policies - any kind of information that needs to be disseminated to personnel.
